The Ten Year Mark? 10 March 2005

Scott Elitist puts hiring companies in their place.

I mean, really people, why are some of your job requirements totally out of touch with reality?

My biggest problem with this right now is a job posted at Columbia what seemed like eons ago for an archivist.

What the Library of Columbia College is looking for does not exist, and if that person does, they are willing to pay far under what such a talent would draw. This job listing angers me for two reasons

  1. The people who are in charge obviously didn’t talk to someone “in the know” about what kinds of positions (or how many) would need to be created to do such work.
  2. This job would be great for at least two people I know (that I can think of). Unfortunately, because of the job description, they are completely put off.

Columbia College Chicago Library, please fix your listing.
