Greg Stimac is a student in the photography department at Columbia College Chicago. He is a damn fine photographer in many respects. Visicswire recently created a website for him at www.gregstimac.com.
Unbeknownst to Greg, someone recently took it upon themselves to get the word out about him.
Apparently another student has decided to do “things” to other artists as some sort of practical-joke-cum-art project.
For his work on Greg, he printed out the following business card and handed it out everywhere he went (bars, restaurants, Chicago street, mass transit, etc).

When I first saw it, I was wondering why this total stranger was handing me Greg’s business card. I don’t know why, but I then started thinking about how effective it was.
Many companies try to individualize their business cards in the material or design. This one, of shoddy design and craftsmanship, still caught attention, but through the use of words. It talks directly to the reader.
When I talked to Greg about it, he was very much aware of the card but was completely pissed off. It seems he’s been receiving calls from girls looking for a date. While I, and many other guys, would relish receiving these calls, they just annoyed Greg.
I think that he should be grateful for the attention this little card is getting him. Now, if only the guy were passing the card out to more people who might be converted into patrons of the arts and purchase some work when they go investigating this mystery man looking for a date. I wish visicswire’s name (i don’t know why it doesn’t) showed up on his site as well. We might have gotten a few propects out of the deal.
