I have completed wlk_defensio, a plugin utilizing the Defensio spam-fighting service. I started developing this thing awhile ago but got side-tracked with other responsibilities. While I wasn’t paying attention, the Defensio guys added OpenID logins to the accounts on their service. I love OpenID and so this only added to the pleasure I have found with their quality service.
The Defensio API is beautiful and quite simple and easy to use. Because of that, I should have had this plugin out awhile ago…..ahhh well.
Here’s the download of wlk_defensio

The only real thing on my roadmap right now:

Just a warning that this plugin seems to require the Curl libraries to work, so if you don’t have those enabled (as a module for apache, usually), it won’t work.

Thanks for this plugin. It’s helped tremendously in cutting down spam on my client’s web site. Although the API is working to identify spam, the Defensio extension in TextPattern is not fully functional. All values in the Spam? column are “yes” regardless of their actual spam status. Clicking on “yes” in the Spam? column does cause the corresponding row to be flagged as false positive, as indicated by the background color of that row changing color. But the spam status doesn’t change to “no”. Also, it isn’t possible to flag a comment as false negative. Can you recommend things that I can check on my end? Do you have a fix for this?

This plugin definitely needs some TLC. Perhaps I can give it that and get back to you shortly?
